The 2011 Doomben 10,000 lived up to the hype and expectation with one of the narrowest finishes in the races history.
Beaded won the bob on the line and took out the title just in front of Love Conquers All back on the inside.
With the early odds on favourite Black Caviar scratched and then the new odds on favourite Hay List also withdrawn there was concern the race wouldn’t be much of a spectacle.
Luckily form the gates it was plain to see that wouldn’t be the case with Border Rebel shooting to the lead with Love Conquers All.
Buffering missed the jump and had to be hard ridden up to third place on the outside of Beaded and the two made contact on more than one occasion.
Black Piranha was behind them with Snipers Bullet and All Silent filling the final spots.
The pace was good from the outset and the flew down the back straight meaning there were chances for all of them as they turned for home.
Love Conquers All moved quickly to take the lead from Border Rebel and Buffering found the going way too tough as he dropped right out of the contest.
Beaded had the best turn of foot though and she grabbed the lead in the first 100m.
Border rebel fell away on the inside leaving it as a race in two when Love Conquers All rallied in the closing stages.
He actually came back at Beaded towards the end but despite the mare having absolutely nothing left sheer guts and determination got her across the line first.
Further back in the field the best run came from Black Piranha which made up plenty of ground to run home third with the game Border Rebel holding on for fourth in front of Sniper’s Bullet.
It was a tremendous maiden Group 1 for Beaded and thoroughly deserved with Peter Snowden saying she’s probably got a bigger heart than any horse he’s trained.
Most of these horses will probably meet again in Stradbroke Handicap in two weeks time and Beaded has been given a 1kg penalty as a result of her Doomben 10,000 triumph.
She was a $3.50 favourite with online bookmaker Luxbet and in fact the first three across the line were in order of betting.
